The Coven of the Albino Bat was officially formed in January, 2005 and has been thriving ever since. As of this update in June 2017, each of the Clan of the Knotted Ash covens have been started by members from this coven.

The Coven of the Albino Bat is a teaching coven.  All of the members are encouraged to share from their different backgrounds in order to expand each other's knowledge in addition to completing the Clan of the Knotted Ash lesson structure.  It is expected that the members will eventually leave and start their own coven, with the love and support of those surrounding them.  It is led by Lady Ivy and Lord Eldraun, and is located in Tonawanda, New York. Meetings are bi-weekly in observance of the new and full moons. The coven is currently not accepting new members.

This is the home coven of the Clan of the Knotted Ash.

ABOUT LADY IVY

Lady Ivy met the Goddess on a car ride one night in 1989. The moon was full, huge, and hanging very low in the sky. The car filled with a feeling of contentment and she found herself surrounded by the warm embrace of motherly love. This led Lady Ivy to reach out beyond her Christian upbringing into the realm of Wicca. She spent the next three years working as a solitary practitioner choosing rituals from Ray Buckland’s “Complete Book of Witchcraft” and Scott Cunningham’s “Wicca, A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner.”

In 1992 Lady Ivy traveled to North Carolina to attend her first public sabbat. She was greeted at the door of the temple with words that she had only spoken to herself during hidden rituals, “Merry meet and blessed be!” and it brought her great joy. That night after the sabbat, she asked the officiating High Priestess (HPS) how to find others in her neighborhood. The HPS advised her to put out notices at local bookstores. When Ivy returned to Pennsylvania, she left notices in two shops. Two days later, Lady Ivy received a phone call from Silver RavenWolf. Lady Silver was currently working on her first book, “To Ride a Silver Broomstick.” Silver accepted Ivy as a 101 student and continued to teach and guide her through her British Traditional first (1992), Black Forest first (1993), second (1993), third (1994) initiations, and her Eldering (1997). Lady Ivy was an active part in the Black Forest Clan at its creation and matured as a Witch through its demanding and rigorous lesson structure. After moving to New York State, it was through the great love and support of the Black Forest Clan that Lady Ivy formed a coven of her own in 1997.

In 2000, Lady Ivy went through a time of personal upheaval which led her to leave her coven in the capable hands of her co-facilitator. The coven continued to thrive under her co-facilitator’s leadership. Lady Ivy returned as a visitor to her former coven’s events after her personal life began to regain balance. In 2002, Lady Ivy and Lord Eldraun started to date. In 2003 they were married, and in 2004 they decided to leave the Black Forest Clan.  In December, 2004, the Clan of the Knotted Ash was born from this parting of ways.

ABOUT LORD ELDRAUN

Since 1985, Lord Eldraun has been fascinated with ritual and energy work and spent many years learning about different paths. In the beginning, what he studied was of a darker nature and with that experience he learned a lot about himself, his needs, and his capabilities. It also showed him what he was missing in his spirituality. Since the Universe provides, he has always been presented with the right people at the right time.

A chance encounter in the mid ‘90’s led him to the teacher who introduced him to the Goddess and the ability to work within the duality of spirituality. While studying with her, he advanced into a more balanced individual but still allowed his then-current lifestyle to hinder his true growth. In 1998 through the internet, he found a Pagan community in his town. It was through this community that he was able to become owner of the Buffalo Pagans Yahoo! Group and met a new study group that was forming through the first official 101 that he was attending. His participation in that group led him to be introduced to the Georgian and Gardnerian Traditions. Eventually he received his 1st Degree initiation in the Gardnerian tradition. After awhile, a few of the group members started doing open holidays for the Buffalo community.

In early 2000, most of that group had moved on and he found himself doing the opens alone or with the help of volunteers. The open holidays continued off and on until 2005. In 2000 he was invited to meet with a coven led by Lady Ivy within Lady Silver Ravenwolf’s Black Forest Clan. After a few meetings, he was asked if he was interested in joining. This led to his studies within Black Forest. At the same time he started teaching 101 classes out of a local shop, and later, out of his home. He was elevated to Third Degree High Priest in the summer of 2003. Lord Eldraun enjoyed the training and exposure to the Craft that he received while within that organization.

In late 2004, Lady Ivy and Lord Eldraun left the Black Forest Clan and started the Clan of the Knotted Ash.
